Blog Upgrade and Soon to Junk Mambo on TeamAteneo.com

Gave up on hacking and tweaking Nucleus Extreme 3.0 blogging system that I’ve been using for months now. It got a bit screwed up and I just went on with a clean upgrade to Blog:CMS 3.4, what Nucleus Extreme is now called. What’s with Donald Trump? He’s a casino and hotel tycoon in the US and now he has a blog release named after him. So far, this is one of the lightest, most efficient, and standard compliant blogging system I’ve tried so far. Not to mention, cute!

Topher and I got into a CMS chat today. Apparently he’s heading the web development for Matanglawin’s news portal and was trying to get Mambo to fit his org’s needs. Mambo is starting to get on my nerves, actually. Its great, cute and simple but there’s not enough room for improvement and customization. It outputs hardcoded tables everywhere, making it a nightmare for xhtml-standard-compliant people. Its templating system does not utilize smarty. In fact, its not technically a templating system. Its a main page layout and a CSS file. Crap!

On the side, I really hate Matanglawin’s layout and color scheme! Bloody red, on black and white background compells my eyes to look away. Complex image backgrounds obscure text in the magazine. Zealot tendencies have affected aesthetic judgement as well? Nice articles, though.

    Time for Xaraya!

Oh. And btw, maybe we should at least try updating to Mambo 4.5
