Apparently, the owner of this blog has feelings for Kitchie, to say the least. I am also a composer in the rock/roll genre. I am a Pinoy here in the states, and I didn’t know Kitchie until I finished my own compositions becaused I looked at the country’s rock music scene. I am not going to write anything about her, but I really think that she has a good set of musicians (arranger, guitarist, etc.) and promoters behind her, superior to the other bands in the country. What I don’t understand is the fact that she’s being marketed as a solo. I think her band should get credit because her songs would not be anything without them. As I write my songs right now, I realize how difficult it is to be alone (I only work with my electronic keyboards and my electric guitar) and having another guitarist, keyboard player and drummer would be really nice.
I learned a lot from this blog though; especially about facts about having your songs published, talent management, connections, etc., and I do thank you for putting up this blog. I just wish that people would refrain from using profanity in expressing their thoughts.
I do know the Juan de la Cruz band, in fact I’m a great fan of theirs; I don’t know a lot of the other bands mentioned here, though. I do agree that her songs are actually more pop, than rock, because as I write my songs right now, I do notice that somewhere in the songs, I (as the vocalist) have to yell the lyrics. Screaming your heart out is actually an element in rock that Kitchie’s songs don’t have. The vocals in her songs are very mild-mannered to be classified as rock, yet the instrumental part somehow may make it.
I have some questions though. Being out of the country for so long, what does “jologs” mean? Someone had written here that Kitchie’s guitar is nothing but props. Is this true? I saw her perform on tv once with two other guitarists (only for a short while) and somehow, I was inclined to believe that this rumor may be true, because I was looking at her hands, not her face when she was performing. I haven’t seen her perform live, though.
She’s still a Pinoy artist, and for that, we should be proud and supportive. I agree that she has supportive people around her, well-off family, friends who helped her get to where she is today. Not everyone has that luck, no matter how talented they may be. We all should support Filipino artists because for all you know, you may be listening to one of my songs in the airwaves!
