It was sudden. She was never seriously ill, not serious enough for us to anticipate anything. But she suddenly had a stroke and 3 days later she just passed away. She was a cool grandmom, very wacky and loud. I think I got my weirdness from her genes, and also small warts starting to form near my eyes. I love you mamang. Life will be a bit boring without you around. As expected everyone including me will be busy with the wake, cooking, hanging out in Loyola, seeing cousins, aunts and old friends. After all she had 9 children including my dad so we are a really big family. She’ll be cremated and put in an urn on monday.
Death brings us together. It reminds us to cherish our family and pleople close to us while they’re still around. Even my two aunts came home from Canada to be with us. We don’t think much about what we should’ve said to mamang while she was still alive. What’s important is the now, that we are together as family. And that we remember her and won’t forget how she all loved us.
